New Publishing Model Transforms Christian Publishing
Bethany Press has aligned with Anchor Distributors to launch OnDemandPlus, a cutting-edge metadata inventory management and print distribution program. To support the program, Bethany Press has launched a high-capacity digital print operation inside Anchor’s distribution facility in New Kensington, PA.
OnDemandPlus combines the print technologies of Bethany Press with Anchor’s ability to distribute content worldwide with ease and efficiency. OnDemandPlus is designed to enable customers to source both print and distribution through a relationship with either Anchor or Bethany Press.
“We’re honored to be able to partner with a company like Anchor. Anchor and Bethany Press share a vision and passion to see the world transformed through the distribution of Christian content. That alignment made OnDemandPlus possible,” states John D., president and CEO of Bethany Press.
OnDemandPlus could transform the face of Christian publishing by “leveling the playing field” for smaller companies and ministries, said John W., vice president of Anchor Distributors.
Publishers now have access to:
- Print runs from 1 to over 1,000,000
- eBook conversion and eStore sales
- Same-day order fulfillment
- A total inventory control system
- Comprehensive wholesale distribution
- Metadata Storage
“Whether a bookstore wants to order one copy of an out-of-print title or 15 books for a Sunday School class, OnDemandPlus will be able to quickly fill and ship a wide variety of high quality products,” commented John. “By investing in new technologies, we’ve created a model that really caters to our customers.”

An Amazing Weekend
The Leader’s Call and Commission 2011 were great successes, in spite of some pretty cold and windy “spring” weather. Thanks to all who worked to plan and serve as nearly 500 guests came on campus from Thursday through Saturday.
26 people attended a day of specialized training for STEM Team Leaders. Then from Thursday evening to Saturday noon about 180 people attended the eleventh annual Short-Term Mission Leader Conference. Sixteen workshops covered topics from “Short-Term Missions 101” to “Media in Missions” to “Millennial’s in Missons” to “Mobilizing into Long-Term Missions” and much more.
It was a privilege having Loren Cunningham and Matt Whitlock minister along with nine other workshop leaders. In addition to the three plenary sessions, Loren had asked if there might be a time to meet with our Bethany Retiree, college and missions staff. The only time that seemed to work was Friday evening for supper. He shared how God had taken YWAM’s Lausanne, Switzerland base through a “resurrection” of sorts and noted that resurrection is harder than pioneering. They were in debt, the hotel that had been their main facility was condemned, and they were $2 million in debt. They repaired and remodeled from the foundation to the roof and everything in between. But, God brought them through and today it is a thriving ministry base. He related their journey to Bethany and encouraged us that the “future will be greater than the past.”
While rejoicing with us that we are out of debt and able to look to the future, he also exhorted us to step into new expressions of our calling. The world of missions is changing drastically, from rapid progress in engaging unreached peoples to the use of technology to engage and reach people where it is practically impossible for a missionary to go. It is going to take fresh vision and new strategies.

Missionary Jeff K. has mobilized the Ghanaian church through his “Awaken to the World” program. He recently invited 35 denominational mission directors and seminary leaders to attend a workshop given by Go100’s John K. and Tim F. in which they presented Bethany’s Know-Be-Do philosophy of missionary training. The leaders also critiqued a missionary “training of trainers” program that Bethany developed that can be presented at both the B.A. and Master’s levels. The feedback was genuine, helpful, and quite positive.
Tim and John also spent two additional days of follow-up in Africa with prospective partners in missionary training.
